Seating/Stadium Design:

  • The park consists of a covered grand stand with green wooden seats and cement 'bleachers". The wooden seats that are now in Centennial Field were put in, in 1922 because the previous ones had burned.
  • if you bring kids to the game, it may be hard for them to walk-up the bleachers since the steps are really big and they are almost too big for an adult, as well. You may want to elect to seat in the covered grandstand.
  • There is a make-shift picnic area down the 3rd base line towards left field.
  • Lots of foul territory. The field is far from the seating areas.

    Atmosphere/Character:

I was a little disappointed in the lack of character at Centennial Field. The only thing that gave the park character was that it was old and had some charm to it, but I still felt like something was missing. I can't identify what, but I was left with an empty feeling.

As far as the game atmosphere, it was perfect. Not too many sound effects, just a focus on baseball.

The Lake Monster's mascot's name is "Champ" for "Lake Champlain", which is nearby.
