Atmosphere/Character:

The atmosphere at the stadium was very festive.  In following the tradition at Camden Yards, the Keys’ fans also shout the “O” in the last refrain of the National Anthem.  The fans were into the game and especially into the “Shake your Key’s” part of the game.  In between one of the innings a group of people walked around with a sign that said “Shake your Keys” and everyone got out there car keys and shook them.  The fans seemed excited about this.  Despite the name, the Keys are not named for car keys.  They are named after Francis Scott Key, who is buried in the cemetery across the street and whose hometown was Frederick.

The stadium is very family-friendly.  There is a very nice kids area which includes a carousel.  All of the kids activities are near the lawn seating area so parents can still see the game while they are entertaining their kids.

On the negative side, I thought the sound system was poor.  I also felt the in-between innings contests were very dull.  One of the contests included someone throwing an orange cone about 2 feet over a white line.  Not sure what the point of that was.  Lastly, the outfield walls were packed with billboards!  Not a pretty sight.
